Restored Drum Value

Loading...

Hey y'all. I was wondering how the restoration of a drum affects its value?

Specifically, if I take my drums to have their bearing edges re-cut at a place like Precision Drum Co, how much value is lost from them no longer being true and original?

How about replacing tension rods with new ones?

In my opinion it lessens the value. It becomes a players kit and that's ok, I just wouldn't expect to recoup the money spent on re-cutting the bearing edges. If edges are bad enough to need re-cutting I lightly sand them instead, if anything.

I use a vibratory tumbler to remove rust from small items. Corn cob media in a tumbler can polish t-rods and lugs to look shiny.
