Up-date photos.

The drum heads have long been ordered but they're in the mail. These are some used heads to get me up-n-running - except for the Evans EMAD batter - it's new and it's what I'll be using until I tuck and mount a Calf hide head......sometime in the future.

The drums have made their way to the "Drum Room" and - as you can see - they're right in front of the Gretsch Harlequin painted wall. I'm a little bit of a Gretsch fan you might have noticed.

In your signature - you mention "old Japanese drums" - I wish I had mine today.

I'm liking the Gold Sparkle on the Gretsch more and more as time goes on. I didn't have a choice in the matter. I was going to take the wrap off but a well known Gretsch historian and author, a collector and another well know drum builder/inovator (3 people) told me "do not remove the wrap!" So - I'm taking their expert advice. I also was told I may be disappointed in what I find under the wrap - wood quality-wise. I was lucky that the wrap was not damaged except for a two inch gash near the bottom of the floor tom near one of the legs - it's not really noticible unless you're looking for it. Other than that they cleaned up rather nice - much to my surprise. They were a dreadful site when I picked them up. I bought them straight away when I saw they were three ply.

My fav wraps are Champagne Sparkle, then Red, Green, Gold and Silver in that order.

I also would like to try and "wrap" some drums one day.

This is me on my very first kit Just after Christmas 1965 - This is the only photo I have of my very first drum kit - Japanese of course.........Is that a pocket protector - YIKES!

These are amazing old strata! Wish I could stumble on a kit like those.

The drums look sweet but your workshop/garage is WAY too organized for my taste. Try strewing some of those hand tools about and triple stack some tools on the same pegs on the pegboard for a more masculine appearance!!!

LOL

R U kidding?!! That place is a mess! That is the only corner that has any order to it - if you can call it that haha. It's so messy I have what little tools I have hanging there like that or they'd get buried under the rubble.

It looks a lot neater than it is believe me. But - it's my cave and I do enjoy being there - especially with drum gear. I need a beer fridgeYes Sir
