Hey everyone, just picked up this snare drum and it's unfortunately got some breaks in the shell and where the re-ring attaches.

I've never really done this level of repair work before but figured let's give it a go. The wood is very stiff and I'm worried any pressure on it at moment will crack the shell. Is this a valid concern or no and if so, is there a way to soften up the wood before regluing?

More generally, what's the best way to tackle this fix? I've got some clamps, I've got various wood glues, anything in particular I'm going to want or need?

Thanks as always.
