Repair Project

For all you crafty guys who wanted to get into a small set of Rogers for a low entry price, here's one that will keep you busy for a while. It might work out nicely if you are good at woodworking or auto body repair. I'd have been tempted not too many years ago.

If I did not recently acquire a great 1966 Rogers Top Hat set, I'd be interested in acquiring these three drums to rehab as a sweet little bop set. I would definitely cover these drums in a period-correct wrap. In my opinion, they need to be wrapped because any attempt to make them into a "natural" wood or stained wood set wood look amateurish. I certainly don't have the chops to make the shells smooth enough for a paint job. And, I would definitely not attempt the painting myself.

I take issue with them being "professionally repaired with clear epoxy". That's not a professional repair in my opinion.

It does have a lot of potential though.

MUST RESIST. Do not need another project.......... Seems like a better deal might be possible.

Missing hardware can add couple of hundred to restoration costs.

Looks to me from the pictures and descriptions that a bass drum Swivo mount receiver, tom arm and three script badges might be the only missing items needed to rehab this set. i don't obsess over nuts, bolts, washers, etc.

I still think he wants to much, even if you were handy that kit would need at least 300 in materials and after that you would still have a player kit IMO.

I agree. $900 is just too much. Spend a few hundred more and get a complete kit.

"Or Best Offer" folks. The seller must realize that he may not get the full asking price. $1,000 total cost for the drums, freight charges, missing parts, wrap, and my labor seems attractive.

Agreed, those shells deserve better.

Looks like a nice kit to me, but I just bought a cool Ludwig transition badge project (22-13-16) for 1/3 of that price and that will keep me busy for a year or two.

Thank you!
