Removing Precision Wraps

Loading...

Has anyone removed a wrap applied with the 3M contact cement that Precision Wraps uses? I've got a seller with an 18x16 '70s Ludwig that's been recently rewrapped with a Precision wrap. If I buy the drum I'll take off the wrap but I don't know how similar this stuff is to the adhesive on an original '70s Ludwig wrap.

If it's gonna be a real bear to remove, even worse than a cortex, or worse than an original '70s glitter I might pass.

Any insight? Thanks, all.

I was thinking of doing that but was sure they'd tell me to send it to them and for a fee they'd take care of it! Cool Dude

The 3M adhesive is water based and will separate easily with a heat gun.

Exactly! This is what I previously mentioned. No real need to call Precision about this. Just take your time in heating the wrap a small section at a time and it will come off easily.

True. Third generation making drums. Wicked attention to detail. I saw it first hand when they made me some hoops for my D20.
