Hi all,

Does anyone have suggestions on how to safely remove this white paint without damaging the wrap?

Thanks in advance!

If it`s latex, hot water will break the bond. If it`s enamel or oil, I had sucess with a water based product called 5F5, you can buy at any paint store or hardware outlet !i Goof-Off is hard on the sheen.

OddBall - Thanks for the info!

Now I need to find out what type of paint it is!

I assume put the hot water on a clean rag and rub the paint?

Yes, if you use a plastic scraper or anything, you`ll get ripples in the wrap.

That paint`s old, if it chaulks off on your finger, it`s oil, or enamel. if you can flake it off with your fingernail, it`s latex !i

Whatever you use, don't use the orange "Safe CitrusStrip" product. It'll ruin the wrap. If you do use any chemical you might want to test a small spot under a lug.

It's latex! I did a quick test last night and the paint flaked off.

Hopefully tonight I can try the hot water method.

Now depending on the sheen, gloss, semi or flat, dictates how hard you work. Flat comes right off !i

One more thing, lay the rag in the hot water, then let it lay on an area before wipeing it off, to heat it a bit.
