Removing paint from Lugs

Hello,

I have a bunch of Small Slingerland lugs with what appears to be silver spray paint.

I used some paint remover from a spray bottle that says is safe on metal. It worked great and they look good as new.

My question: is it really safe to do this on chrome or nickel lugs?
