I may have shared this on another thread, but if so it's probably been a while...

Whatever you do, don't use "goo gone" on a shell with a soft outer-ply such as mahogany. The soft ply allows the glue to actually seep down into the grain of the wood and then as the "goo gone" seeps down after it the result is a nightmare in getting all of the "wet" result out. I scraped, heated, scraped, heated, (shudder) sanded, scraped, etc. etc. etc. and FINALLY got it. But I don't consider that particular shell to be top quality anymore...
