REMO Skyntone drumheads vs RTOM moongel pads

Hello,

I just wanted to share an experience I have made with the above mentioned combination:

After adding the pad, a few days later the shown effect arised. It's like something of the moongel has switched over to the surface of the drumhead.

I have contacted both Remo and RTOM and it seems that this combination remains a special residue (oil? colour?) on the surface of the drumhead, which is almost impossible to remove afterwards.

As I could learn from the comments of both companies, it's nothing that the drumhead destroys - but just a bad optical shape.

Although the sound results were really great before, I have taken the Moongel pad off again.

Just my experience.

I use moon gel on a variety of heads and have never seen that, but then I haven’t tried skyntone heads. The newer gels seem to be “bluer” than the older ones. I suspect some of the die got transferred as the skyntone coating maybe somewhat permeable. I wouldn’t worry about it. Just keep the moongel in the same place or use some older pads.

I'm afraid this just solves half of the problem. The shown effect is a combination of colour AND oil ingredients of the moongel pad.

I could learn from REMO and RTOM, whom I both contacted in this regard, that colour and oil go into the upper 'tuft' surface of the Skyntone drumhead, but do not react with the components of it.

So other transparent pads won't colour the Skyntone, but still the oil component (assuming that other pads are of similar ingredients) will still show a visible effect.

These are what I use, so far so good

I am not using SkynTones, not a fan of those heads

I've gone through the blue transfer issue with MoonGels myself, and I just don't use them anymore.

They transfer to every head I've put them on
