I remember when they were introduced- Louis Bellson was endorsing them. I was not, and am not, a fan of them. I do believe Remo still supports them with regards to new heads being available to this day.

Pretty much Remo's version of an Edsel.

I remember seeing them in the local music shop window when I was in college (where I a bit later gave lessons on Saturdays) and wondering if I was missing something; was this the new thing, the future? Well, no, it wasn't. But it gave the PureCussion kits a starting point once the Rims thing developed.

Maybe donate these to a school?

Ahh.. I remember those. I called them the "clothes pin" drum kit, in regards to the lugs looking like those snap on clothes pins..I would just give them away or try to sell separately. Cymbals are easily worth $80, and then you can probably get another $75 for the drums.

Good advice. Give them to a needy kid who wants drums and can't afford them. Unfortunately, they're practically worthless otherwise. Sorry to tell you that, but these drums were a flop when they were released, in fact, all Remo drums were a flop. They were usually poorly made, and were prone to split shells, broken hardware, etc. The drums often just fell apart after a while. The only cool set they had was comprised of drums that looked and sounded Native American.

Help a poor kid who wants to play. You'll be doing a very good deed.

BTW, Louie Bellson only used them because he was part owner of the Remo Company and Remo Belli himself probably asked Louie to have some photos taken to help boost sales.

I think their Gold Crown series drums are pretty high end and well constructed, weren't they ?

I never heard one good word about Remo drums, and I saw examples of cracked shells and broken hardware. They were a complete flop and were discontinued after a few years.
