Remo Encore Lugs -Any Experience?

Loading...

I have the opportunity to by nearly 100 REMO lugs for the 1991 Encore series drums. These are the lugs that are on some kind of hinge that allows you to pop up the lugs, I assume for a quick head change.

Do any of you have any experience with these? I need to let the seller know really soon and I want to make sure I am not getting something that is problematic.

Encores were a budget line of a company which produced budget lines...BUT...of the few Remos I have worked on, their lugs seemed quite respectable as far as build and design.

I have a an 14 x 10, 10 lug Remo snare from that era. Don't know the model or line. It has the hinge lugs like you describe. I had trouble with them. The snare is so deep that I have to really crank down on the lugs to get any pop out of it. Eventually the base of the lug, which holds the hinge, would snap in two.

Back then I had to order new ones from REMO and they were expensive. I finally found a bass drum cheap that had the same lugs and started using those. I still have the drum but don't use use it very often.

I suppose the hinges would work fine on a tom or bass drum or even a smaller snare.
