I would use a quality wood filler, like Famowood. I dont use Plastic Wood brand because of it's composition, and the fact it is not as easy to work as other types. Real Wood is pretty good if you can find it. Any good, non-pvc type works well. Then you are going to have to sand it down, but you know your way around a tool shed, so it will be easy enough for yopu to get it back to AOC. (Appro. Original Contour). Just make sure to get enough built up to get it back in ropund. You will have to do it in stages, the build up, or it may not set up properly. Good luck with it.

Take your shell outside and find a nice flat concrete paving slab. Place the shell upside down on the slab and gently rotate the drum, it's not as easy as it sounds but there is an optimum pressure and hand position for you that you will quickly find. As the drum is rotated, the slab acts like sandpaper and wears down the wood. Stop and check the edge often and you will see which bits are being sanded and which are yet to be affected. keep going until the surface is level. All you have to do now is shape the edge.

Yeah, this works for like millimeters, for leveling the edges out, not really for what you are going through. This is really only for bring it flat. What you are having to do is rebuild, not square up.

OK Here's a pic of the bearing edge unclamped, I am going to have to build it up with something. I was thinking epoxy. I dont know if wood filler will be strong enough. I wonder how bondo would work?

Before, this section on the bearing edge was layed over. The wood layers were all seperated. It already look much better. I wish I would have took pics before I glued the layers back together.

Tomorrow I'll go look for some famowood or real wood filler tomorrow and see what haappens. I saw your post about your bearing edges and snarebed.

That sounds like a great idea. What if I chop up some fiberglass cloth up and mix it with the epoxy? I have some fiberglass mat and cloth. Now I'm thinking about just using fiberglass resin instead of epoxy. I think it's about the same anyway. I already epoxied the inner side of the shell that had a small portion of one layer gone. I'm thinking maybe I should grind it out a little before I fiberglass it. I'm positive the fiberglass will be hard enough, If it adheres to the shell. Gone to my shop to get fiberglass. ill be back with a report later.

I found some fiberglass cloth out in my barn and have epoxy here so epoxy it is.

I chopped up the fiberglass, mixed it with the epoxy, applied it to the crator, and now its setting up. All I had was 1 minute expoy, so I had to work very fast. When it gets hard, I'll sand it and reapply the mixture to what ever was missed.
