Evans 56 calftone sound and look great plus they fit any old drum even 50's-60's Gretsch.

I can't comment on bass or Tom heads but I've started using the classic fit coated ambassador on the 40s Krupa model radio king snare, and it fits very well indeed, the drum sounds a lot better now- couldn't be happier. Also the coating is really lasting. I also can't use the American vintage heads they don't project enough, and the classic fit heads I've had fit way better than those. They've been a long time coming.

I'm also surprised there's not much internet talk/debate about them especially as you hear so many people have oversized vintage drums. I would enjoy reading it being the geek iam.Coffee Break2

Remo reduced the thickness of the flesh hoop from the inside, increasing the inner diameter. All of the testimony I've read has been very positive. Here's a thread from Drumforum:

I was also looking for a Remo classic fit for a Gretsch RB (20" 6ply) bass drum and was surprised when they didn't offer one. So I bought an Evans 56 Calftone...which did not fit (not even close, surprisingly as it is supposed to be a Level 360 design head) Oddly, an older Remo CS fit fine for a batter head. For the front I ended up getting an Aquarian American Vintage which fit, albeit snuggly (and no, the drum is not out of round, just vintage with thick glass glitter wrap and two wide wrap seam overlaps as on most bass drums). The Aquarian works okay but I'm not a fan of the look with the ivory/pale yellow color and I'd much prefer the look of Fiberskyn (or the Evans 56 which I fully expected to go right on).

BTW: the Aquarian American Vintage heads are the oversized heads. Confusingly they also offer the Modern Vintage series which are the same construction but in the standard size. I had to hunt through several web pages to find the American Vintage version of the head I wanted to order while the Modern Vintage ones popped up right away. I can imagine many folks have bought the wrong version of the heads and wondered why they still didn't fit.

the only heads I can get on a few of my kits are G1 360 ... but I'm more of a Remo guy so I was hoping ...

A Remo rep told me that Classic Fit Bass Drum heads were due to be released this month (March 2018), but still no mention of them on the Remo website or anywhere else online.

I've just ordered a set of Classic Fit Fiberskyn Diplomats for my 3-ply Gretsch toms. Really looking forward to seeing whether these new heads open up the tone. I'll report back when the heads arrive in a few weeks.

The Classic Fit Fiberskyn Diplomats finally arrived today! I've just put them onto the batter sides of my 13" and 16" 3-ply round badges. I was surprised to find that they were still a tight fit—I had to press them down and tension up the hoops in order to get them seated, but they do seem to be a slightly better fit than the regular coated Ambassadors that they're replacing.

The sound, though, is fantastic. Warm, soft, round, and resonant—a really nice calf tone. I might like them more than the Fiberskyn Ambassadors. I've got them paired with a new set of Evans EC Resos on the bottoms. The EC Resos certainly don't look vintage, but they seem to work as advertised—the drums easily come to a defined pitch and have fewer funny overtones without losing resonance and sustain. Nice heads.
