I recently traded a cymbal for this REMO snare with the fold out lugs. It had the PTS head that are built into the hoop. I cut them out and replaced them with new heads. Worked out pretty well. The drum had already had the snares replaced. The throw off was messed up, so I used an extra I had laying around. This has the acousticon sx shell...which is very thin. It sounds pretty good...nice and fat sound. I'm scared to crank the tuning too much since these earlier REMO shells can get messed up under the pressure.

Acousticon is what Remo uses for all of their drums. This snare has the early version of acousticon. Here is how they describe it: made from multiple thin plies of 100% recycled wood-fiber materials, laminated under pressure into a solitary tubular structure.
