Glad you like my set. It took me a long time to find a set this complete, and in this condition. I'm being picky but I wish the floor tome had the rosewood legs instead of using a stand.

I have had discussions with other fellow Slingerland collectors as to why some sets have the legs and some don't.

My theory is this:- as the government got more into the war, more metal was needed, right. So, If your bomber set had lots of metal the lets assume this was at the start of the war when the metal in the drum factories was already there and ready to be used up. As the war went on the metal the drum company's received would be less and less, hence then the need to substitute some metal parts for wooden ones.

What does anyone else think about that?

I also have a wooden snare stand for the set but did not have it at the time of taking the photos.

Still a mystery about my white lacquer Bombers. I keep being told that Slingerland never made Bombers in White Lacquer but mine do not look like they have been striped and finished. I do know who the original owner was and he sold them to another local drummer sometime in the 50's. The 2nd owner did NOT refinish the drums. They look to have been played a lot due to scratches, etc. So why would someone have striped off the pearl when it was only about 10 years old? I can find no evidence that there was a wrap to start with. All parts are original including the wood tom legs and all hardware.

I do know that Slingerland DID have a white lacquer finish available at that time. Badges look tight and original with no paint on them. The shells do have a lap for wrap but didn't all the shells have that even the Duco? Why would the original owner go to all the trouble of striping and finishing and reassembling just to sell it in the 50's? Just doesn't make sense. My kit has the tacked bottom tom heads so was the economy model. Here is a picture of another drum with that finish so I know they did offer this finish.

Not sure about the finish, Many can do that finish. I can see and do remember that Black and Brass badge was Marching and Juvenile series, I always thought the Bombers had Aluminum Badges, with White and or Maroon print. The other kit in this thread don`t have aluminum badges either,....strange... but maybe Slingerland had surplus badges in stock......

If the team colors were White, I can see Slingerland doing that......

I finally found some other examples of Rolling Bombers is White Lacquer.

From the Radio King Collector page concerning the set I have: "Radio King Drums You are 100% correct! Pay no attention to the experts! That's all original and white duco was ALWAYS an option on RK drums and RB drums. Very cool looking set you have."

Bombers for 3 years and have now found some examples.

I have now seen 3 snare drums in white but mine is the only complete set

I have found.
