Recommend me some cymbals

From kookadams

You should try to track down some vintage Italian Pashas or UFIPs. Everybody goes Zildjian, Paiste has been 'round for a long time but from what I've heard they didnt get big til after the 60s. Sabians are an off-shoot of Zildjian. So if you don't get an old Italian cymbal you can't go wrong with an old Zildjian A or K.

Thanks for the reply. I had never even considered Italian cymbals. I will definitely look into them.

Thanks again for the input.

Armand is an excelllent selection for those who are afraid of durability of 40 year old cymbals.

And there is some of them already on second hand market.

Thanks for the suggestion; I will look into them. I've heard the name, but know nothing about them.

17" vintage Crashes are proving scarce. I found one Ludwig/Paiste for $200. How are those cymbals? I have some Paiste cymbals that I like, but they're all from the '70s onwards.

Cheers.

I've heard the name, but know nothing about them.

It's reissue of 60' avedis cymbals, lower bell profile, no protective cover layer on surface (to collect fingerprints and dirt during the years), very similar to 60's machine hammering style. And they are very well blending together with vintage avedises

Cymbals will depend on the kind of music that you want to play...to a large extent. If you want All Rounders, then old Zildjian As or new As or new Ks...many brands though. You may want to determine if you just want new stuff...because looking for decent vintage cymbals requires more work. Many of us have multiple cymbals to cover different things. Good luck.
