Reason Why This Luxor Snare is So Expensive?

I found this on Ebay just now and was stunned by the asking price. It's in the stratosphere.

Is there a reason why? Or, is this just another delusional seller? It's a Luxor snare in a common finish, right?

Imagine how much it might cost if there weren't any wear marks on the rims. At least the shipping is free.

Says he will entertain best offers...Offer him....less...if you want it. Otherwise, what difference does it make? This stuff happens all the time. Someone has no idea what to ask for a price, but considers the possibility that it might be worth a lot. In their head, they are thinking there is the possibility of getting rich. Of course, it's very likely that it won't sell for $10K...but it's also not going to end up going for a buck fifty, either. I think the idea is to err on the high side. It's just a bit extreme in all likelihood...but I pray for the day when someone who has a lot of money to waste, goes ahead and buys it -just for giggles.

^^^^Yep and I wouldn't give half of that for a Luxor, either....but that's me. I'm a Ludwig man when it comes to snare drums. ;)

The Luxor is one of my all time favorite snare drums. Black Onyx is a great finish that is not real common. In a more common wrap, $150-$200 is on the high end for a Luxor in good condition. I would consider $250 to be a fair price. Ten grand for an entire five piece Black Onyx set that included a matching wood shell Dynasonic snare is on the high side.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
