$2995? Really? I know Green Glass Glitter is rare on Slingerland, but nearly $3000? Am I missing something?
This seller lives a half hour from me.

Unless you can find another in this condition to compare it with, hard to say the value. Looks like it has been sitting in a case for decades.
And easier to accept a lower offer than decide you want more after someone accepted your asking price.
Seems high but it only takes one buyer with the $. Worth a shot.
This drum is truly a one-of-a-kind offering! While I, personally, feel the price is high, as already stated above, it only takes one person with $$$ to buy it! I'm sure the seller will consider fair and reasonable offers. And, yes, it looks like this drum was stored away for most of its life. An absolutely beautiful Super Sound King!

When I see stuff like this, I often think that the seller isn't really serious. A buyer may email him and get it for $1500. The seller will think "Wow! I got that $1500 for that snare!" And the buyer will think, "Wow! I talked that guy into giving me a 50% discount! It was a steal!!"
A few other things I'd like to add... I've found absolutely no mention of the SSK being offered as a wood-shell drum! It's always been shown as a COB drum. This wood-shell version also increases the value. Was this a special order? Hard to say! If anyone can find a catalog number for this drum, please let us know!
Next, there are quite a few extra parts for the snare wire tensioner, probably added by the previous owner. The only part should just be the larger knob and maybe a washer.
Seems, at least, that all that glitters isn't gold. Sure looks nice.

Certainly a rare bird. Those extra parts sure do fit nicely, almost too nice. What are the chances that this special order actually had those parts installed at the factory. Looks great.

I contacted the seller about those parts and he insists that that's how it came from the factory. I have a few wood-shell SSK's on my computer, downloaded from eBay, but they are all the newer version of the throw-off mechanism. For now, I'll have to take his word for those extra parts!

Mark, no catalog number for this drum but Dr. Wenk does mention the existence of factory made wood shell Super Sound Kings. What "extra parts" do you question? Happy holidays!
