Real minty

We all did things with our kits we regret today,

“but never say never”

And as far as being to old to gig, maybe , just maybe , this is the dawning of the age of Aquarius . Rebirth for us old timers

I was always in awe at that song

To play it now somewhere live with a big band, would be cool.

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

It seems it can be hard to pinpoint the timing of the Age of Aquarius (Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?), so you might still be able to Get on Board the Love Train. Just be Ready with odd signatures when it comes.

If it's not going to be the Age of Aquarius again, maybe we'll have to sing Up, Up and Away!

Well, I don't like champagne at all, but I LOVE Champagne Sparkle! And if one is good, two are better! My two "Hollywoods" are not perfect, but they are nice born-togethers. (Both snares were added). A Fall 1966 (no date stamps) kit and a date-stamped Dec 31, 1968 kit (perhaps surprisingly, there is nothing wrong with the latter. Were the employees celebrating early?)

I've also got a little Gretsch Catalina Club 4-piece in Champagne Sparkle, but it's certainly not vintage. (When I was a kid, my Dad used to say "You've got a 1-track mind." My first kit was a Kent 5-piece in Champagne Sparkle.)

Lastly, a friend makes "fence art" out of wine barrel hoops. And for my birthday, he made me a "steel" 5-piece kit in Champagne Sparkle.

I know by now, that readers are saying "Enough is enough!" so I'll close.

Merry early Christmas and Happy New Year!

Regards, MB

Here are two Champagne Sparkle sets that I once owned. The 22--16--13 Leedy set is from 1963 the snare with it is a 1958 or 1959 Leedy Shelly Manne snare in Pink Sparkle. My homemade bass drum head is a tribute to D.J. Fontana. I still have the snare drum and the bass drum head. Te other set is a 20--16--12--matching snare Rogers set (I have forgotten what year). I had Jim Petty make a matching canister throne for this set that I still use as my main drum throne for any drum set. I acquired these two drum sets during the few years when my buying/selling/trading hobby became a frenzied pastime.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
