Your question about dishonest or deceiving is totally valid and one that I've run into with car restorations. One of the vehicles I'm working on is a WWII jeep. The most valuable ones are those in which the numbers on the chassis, engine and data plates match. There are companies that specialize in reproduction data tags and number stamping and for a vehicle lacking the original plates it's common practice to put the repros on. The key, however, is that you never try to pass them off as original. In my instance, I've posted info and pictures on the jeep board I belong to that detail the fact that I'm using repro plates. If I do that with my floor tom, I'll also post photos here. The fact that I'm re-wrapping this set, along with the new badge, will be part of the public record and if I ever do sell them my plan is to disclose exactly what they are.

I agree with the disclosure statment. Im in the Auto Interior Restoration business and I understand about the matching numbers thing. I've always wondered why the word j e w e l isnt allowed on here. I guess it is a profain word LoLoLoLo

I didn't even see that until you responded. That is pretty interesting.

Im almost finished with a restoration. i repainted the insides of the shells, but I taped over the date stamp and removed the tape so the stamp is still there. It was only ledgible on on of the toms and snare. I didnt paint the snare interior to compare the old with the new. I was considering having a stamp made with the original date and restamp the shells. if I ever sell them Ill disclose all of this, but I probably wont sell it. I may add to this kit later, and wrap them to match.
