Rarity scale for Ludwig finishes?

So, are you saying that red and silver are more common than blue sparkle, with silver being the most common of all? I've heard from multiple people that blue sparkle was the most common...perhaps it's the most common sparkle finish to appear in the marketplace. THAT'S another factor--what you see in the marketplace versus what's actually out there!

Oh i was grouping them togother these sparkles are more common to fine.. Blue and silver seem to the most common...Mikey

Thanks Mikey, and thanks to everyone else who chimed in. I think I got what I was looking for, but feel free to keep discussing! Please, this stuff is interesting! Clapping Happy2

I watch ebay frequently for BPP ludwigs and they are rarer than a lot of the sparkle and other pearl finishes. However, all 15 of my black panthers came from ebay over the last 7 years.

The problem (or not) with rarity on ebay is that once someone sees something that might really be rare sell for a decent price, then everyone and their brother that has something close to it puts it up to make a buck. Which is good for those who want to find something, but I think the market value takes a hit for a while.

I saw it happen a few years ago with Ruby Strata kits. One sold, then another, then one sold for a bunch higher, and then their were more Ruby Strata kits than you could swing a dead cat at.... and all of the latter wanted higher prices of course, just because of the one auction..

It s a vicious cycle...
