Rare Ludwig finish?

Loading...

I was at a music store the other day and saw a finish on a 60's Ludwig kit that I have never seen before. It appeared to be something like a Mardi Gras...black background with mostly red sparkle. The sparkles were very small and sparse. It looked to be original. Any feedback from anyone on what that may have been, and exactly how rare it is? The kit is 13, 16, 22, any idea on what it's worth? Will try and get some pictures.

It might be Galaxy Sparkle, a rare and desirable finish...are you in upstate NY? I know a guy that recently bought a Ludwig Galaxy 22-13-16 in a NY music shop for $350! Wonder if it's the same kit.

I am in Toronto visiting, and it is at a local store. They are asking $1400 for them. Non original hoops and a few extra holes, I think. Thoughts?

If it's black galaxy (and it sounds like it is) and all is wrong is wrong hoops and a couple holes, not a bad deal in my book.
