Hi,

I'm a new member as of yesterday...3/14/08 I just got the very same drum. Exactly as you describe, but mine has a serial no. of 3111708. I logged on to this site for help, and I'm finding many people with the same questions.

Have you found out any more on this drum?

Thanks,

Stix

my question to the owners of the 6.5 x 14 you are discussing is...how does it sound ??? like the old supras, or the new ones that do not compare to that great sound...........

Hello JOHNG: I haven't started restoration on this snare but I can remember having drum solos with my son in our den(wife went crazy) Me on my OBP68-69 with a 1970 10 lug, 12 hole black throw off and the old 16 strand snare wires. My son used the 11pc set with the 80s snare drum also with the 16 strand wire snare, 12 hole throw,10 lug (Bowtie) snare. Both drums sounded almost alike with their resonance but the newer snare was deeper - 6-6.5 X 14 and my supraphonic 1970 - 4.5 in X 14. This gave his drum a lower tone (but with a slight ring) and mine gave a little higher tone with a slight ring to it. BUT! I was playing Blues, some jazz and a lot of ELO,CCR,BOSTON,SANTANA,DOBIE BROS ,THREE DOG NIGHT and many other covers. My Lolalloy supraphonic was a great all around sound for my playing. My son was playing first, RUSH, and PEARL JAM & many others. He then began started playing Fusion. All using the 11pc set(racked) and boy did they sound GOOD! What is Ironic is now he is playing COUNTRY ROCK professionally using other name drums. BUT he wants me to restore his 1984 Ludwig snare for him to use on stage.Go figure?TMTM
