Hey Gents.....I am looking for some info on a vintage Ralph Kester Ching Ring. Were these made by Ludwig? Are these the authentic Ching Ring's that Henry Bonham used? Answer to these questions and any extra info would be appreciatedHelp2
Ralph Kester Ching Ring
Here are my 3 that I've owned for 34 years, two are NOS in the original box. one I use all the time.Jumping2
I THINK they just re-issued them.........
I grabbed 1 at the Chicago show some years back for $3 or $4,flipped it for $75 I recall..........
VM2000, three questions. 1) The box shows the ring used with the jingles down (on the bottom), is that the way you use it? 2) Do you use a hi-hat cymbal clutch or just drop it over the rod? 3) The box also shows using it on a ride cymbal. Have you done that? How does it sound? Thanks.

The pic I've shown is how I always use it, I always use it with the jingles hanging down, No I've never layed it across my cymbals, I don't want to scratch up my cymbals or due possible damage to the ching ring. They have a wonderful jingle ringing sound that will enhance the chick sound when you are opening and closing your hats, I'm a big time Hihat user, the ching rings aren't everyones cup of tea, they are supriseingly loud. just watch John Bonham on the Song Remains the same. that will give you a good Idea of how they sound and volume they produce. I don't use a hihat clutch to mount mine, due to the holes on the mounting bar are drilled large enough for the old style size clutches back in the day, I've got for long hollow spaceers underneath the ching ring, and I' have a hollow collar that I drilled a thumscrew into to clamp to the Hihat rod. I had to enlarge the spacer as they where not large enough to mount on the Dw hihat that I use.

Would you consider selling one?
If you want a cheaper version, there's a guy on DFO that sells a reproduction model for $20 shipped. I personally wanted a genuine RK one, but couldn't afford it, so I picked up one of these.
