Hi, insanescott, I have two in mind.

***The first is a project RK Ace shell (16 lugs) that has been re-glued, minus the wrap, Early 40s - aluminum badge.

(edited 6/21/2015) sorry, project shell is not an Ace shell, it is an early clamshell, apologies....

***I have most of the other parts except for heads and snare wires. Nickel finish for the hardware.

(edited 6/21/2015) so the 3-point strainer will not work for this without drilling new holes....

The second is a 5.5 x 14, about 1947 - 1949, WMP. There is some separation of the re-rings to the shell, batter and resonant sides. There was an attempt to re-glue; bearing surfaces aren't bad at all. Re-glue is holding, but noticeable. Shell is moderately out-of-round, but modern heads fit snugly. Aquarian Vintage or Vintage II, or possibly Remo's Fiberskyn Series might be a solution, if new/tucked calf skin are not obtainable.

There is a snare wire, though one of the metal tabs, for the strainer or butt is missing.

For the first drum, needing the most attention, I would ask about $350 for what I have.

For the second, I am asking about $600.

Shipping for either would be from $29 to $45, depending on the postal charges.

If interested, please PM me and I will get some pictures together.

Hi'ya. I was browsing the site looking for info to date an early Gretsch round badge snare and found your post. I have a nearly intact early '40s (1940-42) Radio King 14x7 snare with clam shell strainer (Super Strainer) and double row of beaver tail lugs. Strainer arm is broken (very common issue to these) but still functions as a strainer even with the broken arm and an aftermarket, improved, strainer arm is available on the internet for $25. Other issues include flaking of original Duco paint finish, two lugs with minor cracking at the base (doesn't affect tension of lug rods), it's missing the snare wires, and there is minor separation of the reinforcing ring on the resonant side of the shell. Other than these issues, snare is intact and functional. Was about to list it on eBay but will discuss a possible direct sale, if you're interested. More pics available, and I have a nearly 15-year unbroken history of selling on eBay (including, over the years, many vintage drums, among other things). Snare stand in last pic is not available. Best, Rick (in Chicago)
