"New" Star Drums

Loading...

Does anyone know anything about the new line of Star drums by Tama? I've seen a few pictures and read the company hype but, I have yet to talk to an individual who has any experience with these instruments. I have to admit though that the ads look very appealing. Thanks very much.

Hello Brian,

This new line is supposed to demonstrate the utmost of the top possibilities in drum manufacture (as far as I know).

Prices in Euros: approx 7,000 (or more) - again: might be rumours, but this I heard.

Makes it interesting (to have a look at, not to buy due to lack of money at the mom ... ;) ).

I just finished taking a peek at what ebay had to offer in vintage Star drums today and was blown away by the price of a "new" Star snare.....about $1,000.00!!! I love these old Stars of mine but, for this much money for a snare, I would sure be looking into something American made! I wonder what an entire kit would be worth!!!

That's the single ply maple or mahogany snare pricing.

The new Tamas look absolutely staggering. Fantastic workmanship and quality!

But, I'll stick to my old vintage tubs with all their faults and imperfections because of the bond we have (we've grown old together).

Besides, when I play in a dank hole-in-the-wall, not a single audience member would notice a difference between my -67 Ludwigs and the latest super drums (unless there are other drummers in the crowd)....

I agree! I've got an early 80's Superstar set in 18/14/12 with a Mastercraft maple snare. I'd put them up against the new Star stuff any day. I would, however, like to check out the new single ply mahogany snare.

As a tama dealer these drums are very well made right down to the sexy inlay on the inside of the shell , these kit carry a hefty price tag but for the lucky ones that can aquire a kit like the new star line it's worth the money, i know i will be loking into a star kit in the near future.
