Anyone ever had dealings with ebay seller Lance Emerson aka "lancelot-68"?
He has over 3,000 feedbacks and I see his stuff all the time. I have been looking for some Ludwig 1123 hi-hat stands and he's reposted a stand several times with a buy-it-now of $350, which is why it's been reposted several times. I offer him $225, which is about $75 more than I wanted to spend and $125 less than he wanted, but I need that stand so we make the deal. Since there were no bids on the stand we went direct, I paid through paypal, all is well. Until I get the stand. When I assemble it, I tighten the wing screw at the base and set it down. The stand wobbles to the side. I tighten the scre a hair more...still wobbles. I figure I must have the base too low so I pick it up a little, retighten, same problem.
Upon investigation I discover that the thread inside the stand, right at the very end, has seperated and a small straight piece is preventing the wing screw from fully tightening. The wing nut can't reach the post. Obviously it didn't reach the post before it was shipped to me.
I email Mr. Emerson and his reply was "it worked properly when shipped".
I sent a second email and told him the stand does not function and I wanted to return it for a full refund. I was sort of p***ed that such a high volume seller would send an overpriced item that absolutely did not work and yet claim it did so I just wanted to eat the return shipping and move on. His second reply was "are you calling me a liar? Check my feedback. I don't accept returns".
Attached are 2 pictures, somewhat blurry, that show the straight piece of thread that is preventing the wing nut from doing it's job. He states the stand worked when it left. This is not possible.
I am hoping that the piece can be made functional as I really do need this stand but I am slightly amazed at his very unprofessional stand on this situation. Never could have worked when it left his hands and yet I am to accept the damaged goods? What would you do?
