Questlove's Ludwig Breakbeats

Loading...

Has anyone had any experience with this little kit by Ludwig with input by Questlove? I've read some good things and some negative snippets. Are they made in China (I might guess they are)? I'm thinking that they might be a good little jazz kit. Any opinions? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not overly impressed with them. They have a cheap feel to them but might be a great travel kit due to size.

Brian there is a thread on this some where. (I may have even started it) Seems like it had quite a few opinions on this kit. Good luck friend!

Well there you have it, you can gig it, trash it, have it stolen, give it to charity, burn it, throw it off a cliff, or just bury it in the back yard, or buy me a Mojito in the Chateau Marmont bar. Seems like a steal!

HA!! Funny Post

I've heard more good things than bad about these kits. I have been toying around buying a used set if I come across one, but it seems not many are re-selling them yet.. so I guess that could be a good thing.

I always say, that's $400 you could use towards a vastly superior vintage kit, like Slingerlands.

Yes of course your right, BUT maybe this is the perfect little kit to have for those occasions when you don't want to take out your pride and joy. Say just for banging out rehearsals, or dive bar gigs where there's a question mark over the safety of your gear. Or when your cramming an entire band and gear into the back of an old Volvo.

DW do similar, they do the traveler, but that's built to good spec and is pricey, and they do a mini kit which is great, but I'm still not sure it's quite as cheap as the Ludwig.
