Question for Rogers experts

Loading...

Hey all,

My Rogers knowledge is limited so I need some help.

Can anyone give me a ballpark fair market price for a five piece (Londoner?) in silver sparkle? I believe them to be from the late 60's.

The bass and toms look to be in really good shape. They have the script logos and the older, more desirable hardware. I don't see any extra holes.

I know this guy, so don't want to rip him off, but I don't know what a fair price would be and he doesn't know how much to charge. They were his father's drums.

I know prices are a bit depressed right now, but see prices on reverb and ebay all over the map.

What have been your experiences buying and selling vintage Rogers?

Thanks for any info...

The absence of pictures doesn't allow for us to give you any intelligent answers. What is the snare drum? Metal or wood matching the other drums? Older hardware on a late 60s Rogers set? Older would be bread & butter lugs from the early 60s. Later 60s Rogers drums would have beavertail lugs. Do you mean Swivomatic rather than plumbing pipe tom mounts?. I and others would be happy to help you if we had a real idea of what is on this drum set.

These are all I have. I haven't seen them in person yet. The two snares are COB, but not Dynasonics. I guess Tower snares? No pics of those.

Thanks

CoB non-dynas would be Powertones, awesome 8 lug snares. I assume your first pic is a 'just like Johnny's kit' pic.

Not sure what you mean. Those are his actual drums. Not sure what the whole 'tonight show' drum head is for.

What is under the yellow tape on one of the toms? If it's a bad spot, that would lower the value of the drum set. In my opinion, if the four drums in the pictures are clean, and if the pictured cymbals and stands come with the drums, they are probably worth $1,000. I wouldn't go higher than $1,100 if the better of the two snare drums was included in the deal. Is there a tom mount for the second tom on the bass drum? If not, deduct a hundred bucks from my estimate.

Rob,

I don’t feel qualified to offer a value, but I can tell you that those are desirable drums, with desirable swan-leg hardware. It comes with an extra tom, extra snare? Bonus, and you’ll be happy with the drums.

You see, this is why the first pic causes confusion, because you claim it comes with two CoB non-Dynas, yet the picture clearly shows a CoB Dyna.

Fullerton package with cast hardware about '72. Looks like 12-13-16-20 ($600) + 2 snares, Ballpark $900 if all inspect well.

Hardware - $100/cymbal stand. $75/snare. $75/high hat with clutch. Pedal?

Cymbals really depend on what they are. Cannot tell from pictures, but guessing original 14" hats, 22" ride and 18" crash.

Total package deal? Drums, hardware, cymbals - $1400 not unreasonable. All depending on actual condition when you get a chance to check closer. With the single tom mount, you could sell one of the toms for $250 maybe to recoup some cash. Same with second snare. That would bring the total out of pocket to a very reasonable cost for a nice vintage set.

This all seems to be a reasonable estimate. But, of course, we're shooting blindly without complete information about the actual drums and go-withs being offered for sale.
