Question about Slingerland Kit Value

Loading...

Hey, I'm new to vintage drums and was looking for some advice about how much a few drum sets are worth. I mostly want to make sure I don't get cheated when I go into do business with the owner of the kits.

Kit 1: 1960's slingerland, re-wrapped. 8 x 12 16 x 16 14 x 20 sizes.

Kit 2: 1970's slingerland in black-gold-black ducco. 9 x 12 11 x 14 14 x 20 sizes

Kit 3: 1960's rogers in blue onyx. 8 x 12 16 x 16 14 x 20 sizes

Kit 4: 1960's ludwig in silver sparkle. 8 x 12 14 x 14 14 x 20 sizes

I eagerly await your expert advice!

Wow... tough to do that without pictures or condition type information.

Do you want somebody to take a wild stab at it?

Yeah, just a ballpark estimate. I'd assume they're in pretty good shape.

Thanks

It really would be impossible to say without several more details and/or pictures. Anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars, depending on several factors.

Kit 1: 1960's slingerland, re-wrapped. 8 x 12 16 x 16 14 x 20 sizes. $400

Kit 2: 1970's slingerland in black-gold-black ducco. 9 x 12 11 x 14 14 x 20 sizes - $600

Kit 3: 1960's rogers in blue onyx. 8 x 12 16 x 16 14 x 20 sizes - $800 - $1000

Kit 4: 1960's ludwig in silver sparkle. 8 x 12 14 x 14 14 x 20 sizes $800 - $1000

As stated, this is rather difficult, but here are some ideas for you. I think the Ludwigs and Rogers are closer in value. It depends on which Rogers.

Thanks, that's really helpful. Is the reason your ballpark for the 60's slingerland is relatively low because it's been re-wrapped? I was under the impression that the 60's slingerland shells were of high quality.

Trying to get more fluent on all of this...thanks for the help.

My guesses.. just for funWalking

Kit 1 sounds like typical sizes and it is re-wrapped so if the shells and hardware are good and it is a quality wrap job-- $600 on a good day.

Kit 2 A 70’s duco… interesting, I kind of thought ducos were more popular in 50’s era drums.. here is a totally wild guess for you.. I’ll guess $600 on that one to.

Kit 3 A set of Rogers blue onyx shells only just went for $540 on ebay… so I would think you could about double that with the complete drums… so let’s take a wild guess at $1000.00 to $1,200.00

Kit 4 A couple sets that match the sizes of your Ludwigs just ended on Ebay.. one sold for $900 the other ended unsold at $1300.. I guess some where in between those two prices would be a wild guess at a fair price.

So there are 4 completely wild guesses by a rank amateur derived at by taking some very vague descriptions and seeing what they seemed to match on ebay.

Mr. Braddock: Don't you think that idea is a little half-baked?

Benjamin: Oh no, Dad, it's completely baked.
