It's confusing because Ludwig didn't suddenly start with the Granitone and then go to the 6 ply. I have seen Granitones that appear earlier than clear interior maple three ply shelled drums, and definitely have seen pointy badge 6 ply shells.. the 70s is one of the least-consistent decades for Ludwig, period. But those drums look consistent. That appears to be a champagne sparkle color. Too bad the floor tom doesn't match.. However if the seller sits on them long enough maybe they will realize the price is out of range with reality. Some people who don't know the market very well price stuff high to begin with so they don't get ripped off out of ignorance. BTW I think that range, '72-'76 is a bit wide for Granitones, but as I said there is some overlap, the whole seventies era is like a giant transitional period. And you can't use the catalogs to determine dates, because there was airbrushing new badges, and old badges still on pictures left in catalogs, and sections of the catalog that are simply reprinted from previous catalogs, and of course the catalogs are printed well in advance of the year they're made for, and the factory changes come about way before the catalog is released, so there are variations. I'm sure everyone would rest easier to have an "expert" state stuff started and ended exactly on a certain day and I'm probably going to get flack for this but, in the end, you just have to deal with it on an individual basis, and live with the fact that some things may never be known.
