I'm guessing late 70's Hoshino, by the lugs and spur mounts. I've never seen that wrap on pre-70's stuff, and no rerings. If they are Hoshino, be careful of the hardware, as its very porous and prone to breakage.

Yes, definitely Hoshino Kougyou - NOT Hoshino Gakki, later to become Star and later yet Tama.

My experience with Hoshino lugs are the opposite of Teversons - I find them very solid and not prone to breakage. This in opposition to Stars, that I have found crystallizing many times....

1970 is a good if maybe a little early guess.

Not very high quality drums, but can be made to sound nicely with Coated Ambassadors or similar heads. Warm and punchy but not very loud.

It's good to get different opinions. I restored a later Hoshino, maybe 78-ish and many lug screws stripped when removing them (self-tappers), and the tom mount center screw snapped off the casting when I tightened it on the tom post. Let us know your experience...

thxs for your help, now i know where to start.In my opinion the lugs are quite strong, just the screws on the inside of the shells are crap:-)

Soundwise i find the set very nice! We will see how it turns out!

J'ai la même sur mon site en Red Silk mais sans badge.

Les coquilles sont des génériques de l'époque tout comme la banane.

J'ai également croisé ce type d'accastillage sur des kit réputé fait par Star mais qui sont strictement les mêmes. Le snobisme en moins.

Il y a eu beaucoup de déclinaisons autour de ces fabrications du pire au meilleur. Si il y a des cheminée dans les coquilles c'est déjà pas mal.

Après ça se décline en fonction des vis, rondelles, etc... La finition du fut, plus ou moins ajusté, poncé... Le nombre de coquilles...

Un bon point selon moi aussi c'est les cerclages acier. Bien meilleurs que les plastiques made by star pourtant...

I just say that It's definitely an Hoshino kit from 70's

It's right that I have the same in red silk (picture on FB)

And I say that many brands have this kind of "generic" part lugs, tensions...

I have see it on Star made and other and it's always the same level... Specialy on shells... But real Star drums (with Star badge)

There also different level on this kind of lugs... Some have screw, other insert, spacer, etc...

And I say that metal BD ring is much better than Star plastic one.
