I've seen so many people in the church get so used to the certainty of their faith that it bleeds over into feeling absolutely certain about everything they think. They start to believe that every thing they think they should do or say is 100% god's absolute will. There is no negotiating or compromise left in these people and they are completely convinced they are in the right no matter how much it can fly in the face of anything biblical or even moral.

It doesn't seem all that weird on the inside but it's terrifying to watch from the outside. It worries me a lot when I see these people bleed over into politics to push their vision on others.

Given the history of the church over these many centuries,there's a reason the catholic church instituted a vow of celibacy and poverty to the clergy.

Money and sex are quite corrupting as much then as it is now.

I guess that's not working out too well for them either anymore. Maybe just power like that over other people is enough to corrupt.
