Puresound Vintage series line going away?.............

From tnsquint

The response I got from them this morning was that they will no longer be available at all, even by special order. Contact them directly with specific requests and they will give you a part number and also let you know who potentially has inventory.

Thanks for checking with them. I was afraid this would be the answer. Isn't Puresound now owned by D'Addario? And Evans and Pro-Mark? They have cut back a few things from each line it seems. Kind of a shame some of us now have no real source for replacement snares. They must have been real slow sellers?

I just stocked-up on all of the ebay listings that offered free shipping on the RK strap style, Clamshell & RK Extended PureSounds I could find. Ended up with 6 units plus 2 for the the Ludwig P87. Got 'em all for $38-$41 each.

(my wife's gonna KEEL me!). Toilet

There's already one Ebay seller that has quite a few assorted Vintage Series PureSounds listing them for $80-$100 each! Guess you really can't hate on them for seizing on a potential revenue opportunity. Just kinda sucks it's going to come to this unless someone else steps-up to fill the gap.

Well maybe the sudden spike in vintage wire sales will inspire them to keep making them. It's a good way to get people to buy. Just tell everyone "yea we're not making these anymore......" LoLoLoLo Laughing H

I've been seeing some high prices sets of those too over the last several months. $80-100+. Kwazy. ;)

They did this and it did not even warrant a news blob on their website? That is callous. Discontinuing a product that is not popular to a majority of people is an understandable business decision. This is a company that has had presence at vintage drum shows. It is sad that the vintage drum community is so insignificant to Puresound it doesnt even warrant an explanation or warning. Just dropped like a hot rock. Too bad something cant be done to get their attention for just how much business the vintage drum community represents. If we dropped them like they dropped us......

I just picked up an RK strap kind and another RK extended set of Vintage Puresound wires from my local Sam Ash. They had a whole stock of vintage wires on the wall that are not even listed on their website. Best part was that they were only $32.99 each.

What if we organize a boycott of all their purcussion products? Quit buying heads, sticks, parts, etc made by any of their brands? The vintage wire market might not be all that big, but the rest of them do represent a good smack in the wallet.

I sent a website email to them...

I was surprised to see posted on a number of vintage drum forums that you will no longer make the vintage series of wires. I personally own ten Rogers Dyna-Sonic snare drums, five of which have Puresound Dyna-Sonic wires. I appreciate there are costs in providing a product to a small niche market like vintage drum players. lI am saddened that our support over the years was so insignificant theres no mention of discontinuing the vintage line anywhere on your website. That is callous.

This was the response.....

I apologize if that did come across as callous .

That was not the intention but you're correct in your assertion that it probably should have been handled differently .

our apologies are heartfelt and genuine.

I asked my local store guy to call his PureSound distributor and see if he could find some for me a couple weeks ago. I finally heard back last week that this distributor will now be making the specialty wires, they will be better (sure they would say that) and they should be available some time next spring. I'll call and see who that distributor is and let you know. For some reason I can't remember...too many bumps to the head. Falling Do

Well that's interesting. Please keep me posted on those. Good to hear someone else is taken a interest in making them.
