Scott - I'm going to go through the boxes and see if there's a beater in there. I'm pretty sure there was one, or two in the parts boxes. Let me check.

I wish there was a way to transport that snare stand to me.

That would be like "Star Trek" transport.

!!!!! Dang, I hadn't noticed that gold tone until you pointed it out! Amazing. It'll make a perfect stand for the 14"!

Good eye! I completely missed that. I thought it was from rust, or corrosion.

Ok, Re: the beater... I have good news and I have bad news... which do you want to hear first? :p

Good news first... I -found- the beater!!!

Bad news... the 'wooly/beater' part is shot. The stem, the retaining bolt and the beater washers are there and can be saved... rusty like the pedal, but savable. The beater part needs to be replaced, or rebuilt. If the core is useable, recover it with lambs wool. If not, making a new core is not hard (large dowel stock,) and you can get a piece of lamb hide with wool online. It looks horrible... but it can be saved!

So I just looked on the bay for vintage wool beaters and..................

NONE!

With a little advice, I may be able to rebuild that beater you have.

Are the cores on those old fat fluffy guys wood? Or cork, or something else?

Is it a round ball under all that wool?

These questions sound real weird with all of this beating going on.

Thanks man. All I would have to do is, apply a little dirt, blow some smoke on it and pour some scotch on it to get that old look.:D
