I believe I've seen something on this topic recently and I think it was determined that Bernard played on some pre-Ringo (pre-Beatles) stuff if I recall.
Purdie and The Beatles
I've been very interested in this posting but, did not want to reply until I had gleaned enough facts. Today, I spent some time researching and have come to a few conclusions. As a kid, I remember a friend playing a single he had purchased at the local music store. Of course, it was released after The Beatles had done Sullivan in '64. The title: "My Bonnie by The Beatles with Tony Sheridan". I have since learned that Mr. Sheridan may have recorded it with "The Beat Brothers" long before Ringo even joined. Bloody awful song but there were a few "Ooos" thrown in. John and Paul? At any rate, Mr. Purdie MAY have played on the tune and a couple of earlier PRE-Beatles tunes. Did he play on twenty or so more? NOPE!!! Hell, Pete Best did more recording than Bernard Purdie!!! Just an opinion based on what I have learned.
