I had to post this even though its not vintage, I was suprised when I look for a Paiste 2002 Med crash in 17" to find that they do not make such a weight in that size, then on e bay recently I saw a prototype, 17" 2002 med crash so I put a bid in and I won it, when I got the cymbal, it was the most beautiful pie I ever saw, I feel like mounting it in a display case, now I don't want to hit it at all. I'll have to get a pic after the holiday, it has reflector finish, I did some research and found out it was made for an endorsed Paiste artist........now I have to buy an 18" med so I can play it LOL!!!!!!!!!Excited

I am very glad you got a sweet cymbal. I do not wish to throw ashes on you, but they have made the 17 for quite a few years. I've owned two or three of them in the past. Paiste doesn't advertise every size they make.

True. The 17" 2002 Medium was a standard catalog model until the mid-late 90's. (There is gift wrapping going on in my room with the catalogs, so at this moment I can't verify when they stopped).

I had heard that the Paiste prototypes are hit-and-miss as far as them sounding good, but I scored a 20" prototype crash a while back for cheap. It has a really huge bell-- really more like a crash/ride. And I'll tell you-- it's flippin' awesome! Sings well. And versatile, important for me as I don't use many cymbals in the setup. Congrats on your proto working out! I'd buy mine again in a second.

Big deal. some one dose not like your cymbal. I think it's cool that you like your cymbal that much and you want to share it with the rest of us. when we post things here on vdf you will allways get good or negative comment's about something. do your self a big favor dont get bent out of shape cuz some one dose not share your vision of beauty. it's just the way it goes! dude

Amen. I dig Paiste cymbals. The single best cymbal in my cache is a 20 inch Twenty Light Ride. Un-FREEKIN'-real cymbal. It does everything for me. If I could only teach it to wax my MINI ... that would be so sweeeeeet.

In my world, I just plain don't offend people, just they way I was brought up. I think its even more important on a forum like this, the moral thing to do is if you don't like something, is to not post at all. Pretty simple. You can look at every post I put up since I've been there and you won't see me start a negative thread at all, period.

In my post I had a sentence that I hoped would indicate I was not speaking to you slingerland, I think all of the cymbals that have the overkill hammering look as a sales pitch to justify the 4,5 and 6 hundred dollars they ask for them are ugly. Zildjian and Paiste both have 90% of their product like that in their current catalogues.

I was brought up the same way ,but can open that can of E-foo if needed,..like 2xs pointed out,..I was not speaking directly to you and hoped you wouldn`t think so !! Your reply indicated that I was, and I guess my wording wasn`t for the thin skinned,...I`ll try to be more gentle !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!
