Price for trans stamp ride

All your work on vintage zildjian cymbals is absolutely fascinating zenstat, thanks for that, It makes for great reading. Will be keeping it at least for now, it's just that Im seeing a few hollow block ones around the net and they seem cheaper and Im loving the sound of those. This trans stamp I have REALLY does its stuff iin smaller band stuff, but I'm just needing a bit more cut for a 20 piece big band situation.

I did think this ride was from the 40s , but it's fine to know it's early 50s.

I'm glad you found it interesting.

I'm always of two minds when getting into the sub types of Trans Stamps. That's why on my main timeline I just have a single entry for Trans Stamps, and the details are there if people want more. Similarly for the Pre Trans Stamps. The details of the multiple types are tucked away for those who are interested.

For me how a cymbal sounds is much more important than whether it was made before or after December 31st 1949. But eBay/CL sellers seem to have caught on to adding the word Trans to their ads (whether it is or not) as if it is a talisman to bring a higher price. That leaves some very nice post Trans Stamp 1950s cymbals we can find at a lower price. For now...

These old cymbals are a romantic ideal, and the sound is the bees knees. May they last for ever and ever.Cool1 and the sound to me is the most important thing.

Oh yes around the bell I know, interesting, didn't know that, I meant there are other tape marks on the bottom I'm sure that's not to bad a thing though, this cymbal does sound very nice indeed, but I'm just ' toying with ideas' you know, not sure if I'm going to sell soon. I suppose when you buy from a dealer you pay more or less top whack.

K. Zildjian in Istanbul placed paper factory stickers on the inside of the bells of their cymbals. I'm not aware of that practice ever being used by the Avedis Zildjian Company in the US, and while I can't swear it was never done, I've never seen or heard of an example when it was. I bought my first A. Zildjian in the mid '50s as a 12 year old and they didn't have them on their cymbals then. A Zildjian trans stamps from the 1940s looked different than this example which is from the 1950s.
