Premier made excellent drums to a high standard. Their shells were typically birch, with beech re-rings. 45 degree bearing edge. A different wood mix, more typical of European drums at the time. There was also a run of mahogany/birch/mahogany shells in the 70's. As with most really well made drums, you can make them do whatever you want.

early 60s and prior they were 3 ply birch with Beech ring in the pre-international sized day. Late 60s early 70s went International size- with 3 ply mahogany with beech rings and then - around 76 back to birch international size (of course) 3 ply with rings.
