Ok so this kit is finished and what a pleasure it was to work on. The kit had clearly been gigged heavily but was well looked after. The wrap is near perfect except for very slight uniform fade and a few fine cracks in the FT wrap. The chrome is great and apart from some heads, a couple of washers and the BD logo it's completely original. Oh, and I repainted the BD hoops. Such a nice kit.

Just trying to see if the last owner can send my some photos of the kit in action. I did see some at his house.

From Ralf

Great story and a beautiful kit with it's own unique personal touch due to the WMP floor tom!Is the fixation of the two bongos really done through the inside of the major bongo, onto the bass drum? The bass drum pedal is a STAR made one - all other parts seem to be genuine.Ralf

Ralf - here is a photo of the bongo mount inside the drum.

Thanks Andrew. First time that I see such a solution for fixing bongos.

Appears to be the genuine construction, isn't it?

I'll never stop learning new things on vintage drums.;)

Ralf

NB: great job on making these drums really shiny again!

band members in the day always were on the hustle to put together there gear as with each of us back in the day it was cool to gather orphans and give them a new look and a new home im sure we all have a tale or two to tell about that...

cool kit of course keep it that

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Great find and great restore! Did anyone have better chrome than Premier? I think not.

Meazzi Hollywood out of Italy's as good...maybe better!

I have a hi hat and snare stand by them I am going to sell on Feebay Soon.....

I heard the Euro plating is better,as they use 220 volts instead of 110 here....

It's got to be up there. I haven't seen the Meazzi to compare. I've had good results from the Slingerland drums I've cleaned up. My 64 kit has near perfect chrome.

From Fayray

I finished cleaning up the HiFi snare and apart from some pitting on the top hoop the drum is in fantastic shape which, for a (probably) late 50s drum that has done a bit of work in its time, is pretty impressive. It even came with a spare NOS set of Premier snare wires but the ones on the drum are still good to go.

All kiddin aside / I really like yr snare
