Premier Snare?

Loading...

Hello fellow vintage drum People. Stumbled across this site in my search for answers to a few questions I have on a recent purchase of a set of what looks to be a 70's Premier Kit.

Its a Birch kit, red wrap. Whats unusual is the Brushed Aluminum snare drum that came with it. It has what appears to be, a single Ply wood insert inside. I personally have never seen such a thing and can't find anything searching the web. Wondering if its just a retrofit that somebody made and installed or if its a manufacturing retrofit.. Thanks in advance for any information you may have,,

Thx ACdrums

It should be a Resonator snare. While the kits are common, a very few snares were made and then discontinued. I have a complete kit, but the snare has a standard shell, not resonator. Resonator shells had a shell-within-a-shell design, very expensive (two shells each drum!). You can check the Premier Resonator catalogue at www.drumarchive.com and see the details of the design.
