Hi There The snare wires are up side down. The plates that say double 10 should be visible. I buy and sell them here in the UK. Im only stating a few points for you. Also to sell it needs stripping down and cleaning. The hoops are original die cast not brass never made brass hoops. Apart from that you should sell it easy enough.

Thanks for the info! I don't know much about the Royal Ace. I have a Hi-Fi that's my favorite snare but it's been modified over the years so I wouldn't recognize all the original components. Will make the corrections, thanks.

A very cool Premier Royal Ace! I also noticed the upside-down snare wires! Having those wires are definitely a plus, as they are probably considered "unobtanium"!

Yes the wires are impossible to find these days. Apart from 8 rods you have a nice snare on offer. Probably get some great pics/shots outdoors. If all the internal workings are in great shape, the drum will sell. Will look/sound better with wires right way up an easy fix. Best of luck.

As "seantdrums" pointed out, does the snare need a complete stripping down and cleaning? Is there any pitting or dings? If so, how much?

How's the beam floating snare system function? Do the snares engage smoothly and stay engaged? Are there any broken/cracked components to the internal snare system? Unfortunately, that is a common issue with the RA.

Since the resonant side tension rods are standard, I'll bet the lug inserts might be cross threaded. I think Premier used a different thread gauge for the slotted tension rods. It would be an easy fix with 8 new Premier inserts.

Took Sean T's advice and took some more photos in the light. Still haven't had the time to turn the snare wires around. It's funny - I've played this thing for years and it sounded great even with the wires upside down! Subliminally inspired by those guys playing Gretsch sets with the tone controls facing out is the lie I'll tell.

Looks a lot better. The wires probably play just as good but as a sales point when you do close ups of 2x10 wires it makes it stand out. Ive had every type of royal ace ever produced. When im selling i take as many interior shots as exterior shots. Crop em down against a white background like a sheet etc. The slotted rods can be bought on ebay try one from top to see if the other rods are same thread. Lots are the same but some are not....Good luck..
