Premier Olympic SD 6.5" depth?

Loading...

Please take a look at eBay item 151633279719

The seller, who actually posted a VDF link about this drum a few years ago, maintains that this is a rare 1003 model, in a 6.5" depth. He shows a measuring T to illustrate the depth. I contacted the seller to let him know that he needs to measure only the shell, not the complete drum with hoops, to get an accurate depth measurement.

I maintain this is a 1002 5.5" depth shell. The depth is easy to tell against another Premier 6.5" snare, item 141620038268

I guess what bugs me is that people can be so obstinate about the correct way to measure drum shells.

What say yea on the size of this drum?

Hi Christian!

I think it's a 5.5", too. I'm still awaiting a reply from the seller.

I agree, 5.5". It's an ambitious price too, even if it was 6.5"

Pretty obvious to all us drum enthusiasts that this snare is a 5.5, and that what is likely is that this seller is measuring from top to bottom of the whole drum, rims included.

I once saw a whole set of these Olympics (same badge), with wood hoops, 8 lugs on BD and snare, close to mint condition......for sale on CL - for $225.

Simply put - at $475, this seller has been misinformed (by the appraisal) and this is priced about 400% too high.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

I was contacted by the seller who insists this is a 6.5" shell. I wrote back to say he really needs to remove the hoops and heads and then measure the shell. I also provided him with the link to this discussion. Since he has been a member here, let's see if he chimes in! I don't like calling people out, but just want to get to the bottom of what this drum is/is not.
