Premier Model 53

Is anyone familiar with this Premier Model 53 set?

I think perhaps from the early sixties?

The wrap is removed, missing bottom hoop and rods.

Does anyone know the shell construction, or other details ?

I found a cat scan for it in the Premier web site, but I can't read the text.

I can never seem to navigate in the Moonfruit site, or find any text... only

un-titled photos.

So, that's the end of the short rope of research I know how to do.

Help, please...........

Kevin

hi,quite possibly,i dont think they could make their mind up what to make the drums out of! i love them,i think they are the best value drums on the planet right now, they were a third of the price of ludwig in the 60's and remain so today

My set, which is the same, and from the same time, is three ply birch with beech re-rings, so that's a good bet.

Yes it does have birch shells (3 ply) and beech re-rings. The badge still has a border so it's pre 65ish (they dropped the border) If the BD cymbal mount is straight and the mount is similar to the spurs, drilled into the shell, It's 61-65 era.

Wow. Sweet drums. Premier kits from the 60s and 70s are very nice. Outstanding sound and hardware. Jazz cooks on those. Seriously. There is a great pair of vids where a gent plays a 60s rb Gretsch and a Premier transition kit. ThePremier kit smokes the rb kit. Hard to believe...unless you've played one. Then you know the quality you're dealing with.

Thanks all !!

I unfortunately missed this kit taking an afternoon nap on the couch.

It went for far less than I was willing to pay, too.

Snooze you looze !!!!
