Premier Lokfast HiHat Stand Problem

Loading...

Hi,

I'm asking for advice from the Hardware experts here:

I have two Premier Lokfast HH Stands with the same issue: While using the pedal the bottom cymbal slowly comes down due to a previously overtightened Wing screw and a probably damaged nut. So the whole stem doesn't stay in place and slides down.Very unpleasant.Falling Do

Did anybody experience the same and is there a chance to fix this?

Thanks and Regards,

Lars

I have had those stands apart and usually there is a square nut imbedded in the casting that the pipe slides into. I believe that the screw, threaded into the nut presses on a separate piece that does the actual clamping. The casting in the lower section will have to be removed from the oval pipe to repair it. I THINK- this was many years ago-i sawed the oval pipe about an inch below the casting where it mates to the oval pipe, carefully "Dremelled" the pipe section from the casting, replaced the square nut and then pounded the casting back into the 1" shorter oval pipe with a hammer, but with a piece of wood over it to prevent any damage. Or just put a memory lock on the pipe.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I tried to replace the square nut but I had only those from a Lokfast cymbal stand which are longer and consequently don't fit. I'd really like to avoid shortening the stem and will try to get some of those square nuts...

If anyone should have those, I'll appreciate offers.

Cheers
