In what year did they switch from a small knob (5/8") to larger ones (3/4" across) ?

i have two permier snares...one (10 lug steel) from the late 70s early 80s, and a mid 70s olympic. both of those have the same small muffler knob. i took all the hardware off the olympic and put it on a bare super ace shell i got. everything fit like it was made for the drum, so it seems they used the same size hardware for a long time. possibly changed the size of things with the apk kits in the early 80s. maybe. i dunno
