What is exactly the difference between a Premier Hi-Fi and a Royal Ace or a 2000 ?
Is it just the strainer mechanism and the 10 lugs ?
Shell, lugs and hoops are identical no,... ?

I more of a Premier 'aficionado' than 'specialist' but I believe the only difference was the strainer.
BTW, My maple 2005 (14x8), special ordered in 1982, is a 10 lugger.

I am no expert either, but here I go:
Hi-fi drums had a traditional strainer, were originally 10 lug, but went to 8 somewhere in the early 70's and to regular flanged hoops instead of die-cast.
Royal Ace and 2000 both had die cast hoops and parallel type snare mechanisms, but different. The 2000 had the Flobeam snare mechanism, which could be adjusted vertically.
As far as I know the hoops, lugs and shells were the same or at least similar. I know some of the earlier Hi-fi drums had a brass shell as I had one. Not sure about Royal Ace shells. The 2000 I have is aluminum, but I have heard there are some steel ones?
