These are late 70s v.1 Soundwaves (the v.2 had undersize shells and the lugs were mounted on metal plinths). The lugs are the 1446-20 lugs, first used on late 60s Olympic floor toms, then on Super Olympic kits in 1977, then Sound waves, Crown, Royale and APK kits up to the end of the 80s. Thereon they were used only on marching drums and can still be seen in recent Premier mnarching drum brochures.

The 392 tom mount first saw the light of day in 1974 and was used until around 1987. There were 4 version of the bass drum socket; chrome finish with two handbolts, black finish with two handbolts and then chrome with one bolt and black with one bolt. The black versions were fitted to Olympic kits, then on the Premier made Hamma kits. When Olympic was rebranded Premier Club, the sockets fitted were chrome but later, early 80s Club kits reverted back to the black finish sockets.

I've got a Ajax - Premier drum kit, and my Premier Bass drum has the same badge, and mines a 80s.

This is a really nice kit, check mine out! [:

A bit late to the table, but it appears that Baskey-Vintage is the only person to have come forward with correct info as regards the identity of these Soundwave Mk 1 drums

Phil Collins used a Premier Elite Concert tom kit in Black wrap, as well as a natural Birch concert tom kit. he also used a Soundwave Mk 1 natural Birch kit with standard double headed drums. The Black Concert kit would have been the recording kit on his solo albums.

Soundwave were never top-end kits Elite and Resonator were the top-end kits. Soundwave were basically just re-branded Super Olympic drums using the same 'speedboat' lugs. All shells on premier drums at this time were either the 3-ply Birch or 3-ply mahogany with beech re-rings, so the thing that altered the standing and the cost price was down to the hardware - Deco lugs and die-cast hoops on Elites, Liners inside resonators etc. Soundwave were just above Crown kits, which ceased by 1987. Soundwave Mk 2 kits WERE professional drum sets, with their undersized shells, a hint of what was to come with Signia and Genista series in the 1990s
