Premier Club Made in England

Hello,

Does anyone know anything about Premier Club drum kit? All drums have Made in England badge with serial numbers. I've had them for many years but hardly used so as new.

How could I check the serial numbers.

Many thanks

Probably late 70's or early 80's. Premier serial numbers are very erratic so you are best off finding your kit in catalogues for dates There Is a catalogue of the Premier club kit here http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/premier_drumsets_club.htm Does your kit have the cool racing stripes finish? As I'm sure others will say: Please post pics!

1964 Ludwig Champagne Super Classic
1970 Ludwig Blue Oyster Super Classic
1977 Rogers Big R Londoner 5 ebony
1972/1978 Rogers Powertone/Big R mix ebony
60's Ludwig Supersensitive
Pearl B4514 COB snare ( the SC snare)
Pearl Firecracker
PJL WMP maple snare

Thank you Funkypoodle. Unfortunately mine do not have those fabulous stripes. They do look to be a very similar kit though. Mine are a yellowy gold colour(not nearly as attractive). I don't think they can be seventies - I bought them approximately 1987/8- they were as good as new then and unfortunately my playing days were were few! Do you think anybody would be interested in such a kit?

Premier Club is the continuation of Olympics - or rather, Super Olympics, as Clubs sported 8 lugs on the 20" bassdrums instead of the Olympics 6.

Also just 5 lugs on 12" toms and 6 on 14" floortoms - but otherwise the same nice shells as other Premiers. 3-ply, birch usually, with re-rings.

5 lugs on 12" were enough for Gretsch once - if you put a modern 2,3 mm hoop on top, it still is.

Some say that Olympics/Clubs were second-grade shells or were cruder in the finish - especially edges. I don´t really think so.

In short - nice drums. Don´t expect silly prices though.

The Club kits are not 2nd rate drums they have excellent build quality

The racing stripe kits of which you speak are the Tri-bands, available in red, green and blue, nice looking kits, I have 3 of them

Thank you for your very helpful information. I am not an expert on drums but I think my set is beautiful! However nobody seems to like the very bright orange colour! I suppose some colour/designs are more desirable than others But again thank you.
