Premier and Premier Look Alike Lugs

Loading...

I have several of the lug casings pictured below. The two in the first picture are marked Premier inside. The four in the second and third pictures on the right are similar to Premier but not quite the same. They either have no markings inside (bottom left) or letter/number combinations like "RD 56" (top left and middle left - looks like someone cut the ends off of the style above) and "RD843756 436/20" (right).

Does anyone recognize any of the four that are not marked Premier? I have looked through some Premier, Olympic and Beverley catalogs with no luck. I have seen some Premier lugs on UK eBay that had "RD" or "RD (followed by numbers)" inside, so I am assuming that those that have similar markings are Premier. It seems that there were many variations through the years.

Thanks

Thanks. Those are great resources.

I have a whole bin of parts that says it is Premier, but I saw some Olympic and Beverley parts and some MIJ, so I wanted to figure out what each part was.

In your first three photos the lug third from top is a cut-down Premier lug.

Group of lugs extreme top far right just below the single BD claw look like MIJ lugs.

In your bottom photo the grouping 2nd row from bottom, 2nd from left - MIJ snare lugs.

Immediately to their right appear to be newer Asian import lug castings; probably of Chinese origin.

I agree that there appears to be at least two Amati lugs in the next to bottom row, 2nd group from the right.

Bottom row, far right look like two John Grey floor tom lugs.

Thanks again. The cut down Premier has the same numbers inside as the one above it in the second and third pictures.

In the picture showing the entire contents of the bin, the Premier or close to Premier are front and left. There were lots of other things in there, as you can see. I had figured out some of the MIJs, but not the Amati or John Grey. The Asian/Chinese ones are pretty stout.

The Nick Hopkin site has been great. Wonderful pictures and lots of them. I was fortunate to meet Nick this year at the Chicago Drum Show. I did not realize that his site was so informative.

No Chris -- they are similar, but not Amati.

Cheers,

George.

Thanks to all. I was just trying to get the four lugs shown in my original post figured out first. These were the ones that I thought could be Premier, but since they did not actually have "Premier" marked inside, I sought some help.

Those all came to me in a box marked "Premier", but there were several other things in there. I have identified some as Beverley, some as Olympic and even a Slingerland mount. I posted the more inclusive picture just to give people a feel for what I was doing, not necessarily to get IDs on everything. I appreciate the extra help, though.

Next I will start on the box marked "Slingerland" although I think most of those actually are Slingerland. I also have three boxes of unidentified lug casings, several hundred bass T-rods from various manufacturers, and some more boxes of parts needing identification ahead.
